The Frappuccino Fund was started by.. well.. me.. about a half hour ago.
The idea behind it is simple. Even in this economic crunch, there are luxuries we still allow ourselves because we damn well deserve it. I’m not here to tell you to change your ways, because we all need something for ourselves now and again. But what if for a few days, you didn’t go to your favorite overpriced coffee shop and spend upwards of $4 on a cup that will last you 30 minutes and instead put it towards an AIDS Walk donation so that someone with the disease can get an injection that will help them live stronger and healthier a bit longer?
And thus began the Frappuccino Fund, because those life-saving injections only cost $10 - so if you skip coffee roughly 2 days a week, you’re saving a life. Whether or not it’s the life of someone you know, it’s a life; a neighbor, a fellow human being. That carries a heavier weight than your calorie-ridden, heart palpitating cup o’ joe, no?
Try going a few days this week without getting a cup of coffee… or better yet, make it at home. Take the money you’ll be saving and put it in a jar and in a few weeks, donate your funds to the Cure Score’s AIDS Walk team. It’s that simple. Come May 17th, I’ll leave you alone and you can go running and screaming all the way back to your caffeine habit… but for now, why not consider it?
It doesn’t only have to be coffee, either. Think outside the box. Think with your heart.
All donations are made securely through aidswalk.net. And thank you, truly.
